The 5 Rhythms offers us a beautiful dancing map with which to negotiate the territory of life. The practice is very simple and has the capacity to hold and support our growth and transformation. We are at once, strengthened, softened, catalysed, inspired and deepened.

This course is an opportunity for people to be introduced to the depth of the 5 Rhythms movement practice and share in the ongoing fun and support available when the same group of people meet and grow together over the course of a year. It is for beginners who are ready to find out more and for long-time dancers who wish to consolidate their practice.

The new material I am studying as part of my MA in Dance and Somatic education will be woven into the mix, as will the ‘Be The Change’ symposium which invites us to awaken from our collective trance and move into the global dance of awakening. For those heading in that direction this course will count as hours towards a teacher training with the Moving Centre

Pure Practice Waves January 22-24
An introduction to the physical practice of the 5 Rhythms, working with earth connection and playing in the waves of our movement.

The Heartbeat of the Body March 12-14
Dancing with the emotional body, our passion and our ability to be present in the heart.

Stories and Patterns of the Mind May 14-16
An opportunity to surrender to the bigger dance that is moving through us, get out of our own way and join with life.

Celebration Ceremony and Service July 23-27
An invitation to practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty, share ritual theatre, ceremony and community.

The Eye of the Storm September 10-12
Entering stillness, working with endings and completions, honouring the silver thread of spirit that runs through everything.

All weekends will take place at the Bilberry Hill Centre on the outskirts of Birmingham. Price includes accommodation, food, tuition and administration, the longer Celebration Retreat will be elsewhere tbc.
